HOME BEHAVIOUR CONSULTATION

Home Behaviour Consultation

Behaviour therapy takes place in your own home. A consultation lasts anywhere between one and a half to two hours, depending on the problem. During this time I will assess your dog or cat by firstly taking a detailed history, so it is useful for owners to write down everything they can think of prior to my visit.

I will then need to see the behaviour happening (where appropriate) so I can assess your pet's emotional state at that time, along with various other relative factors.

I will then put into place a behaviour modification programme specific to your pet that I will practice with you at the time (where appropriate). It is important that you carry out my recommendations fully and consistently. Leaving things out or only doing them occasionally will not help your pet to change his/her behaviour.

After my visit I ask that you  give me regular updates at a pre-arranged time so I knows how things are progressing.

NB: It is important that you visit your vet prior to booking a consultation, to rule out any underlying medical problem that may be causing the behaviour (this is especially important in cases of sudden onset aggression). It may be necessary in certain circumstances, for meto recommend a course of drug therapy alongside any behavioural programme, so liaising with your vet is essential.
